The GOP’s 2024 Platform is A Wake-Up Call for Women

The Republican National Committee (RNC) has unveiled its 2024 platform, and it’s sending shockwaves through political circles, especially among women voters.

This new agenda, closely aligned with Donald Trump’s rhetoric and the controversial Project 2025, (see Maga Ringleader Reveals Authoritarian Ambitions) represents a stark departure from traditional Republican values and poses significant threats to women’s rights and freedoms.

Masked Motives: How the New GOP Platform Betrays Its Conservative Roots

Tara Setmayer

Tara Setmayer, a former Republican and co-founder of the Seneca Project, offers a scathing critique of the new platform. “It’s an insult to voters,” she declares, comparing it to childish promises of “candy bar machines and soda in the cafeteria.

This platform, she argues, “is nothing more than a thinly veiled version of Project 2025 and Trump’s Agenda 47, which outlines. former President Trump’s plans for when he gets to office again”.

The shift in focus is alarming to Setmayer. She sadly points out that the days are gone when Republican platforms centered on lower taxes, strong national security, and smaller government. Instead, she says, “these are proposals that could dramatically reshape American society, particularly for women”. Notably absent from the platform are explicit mentions of abortion and marriage, a calculated move according to Tara, to obscure the party’s true intentions on these hot-button issues.

Back to the Dark Ages? How the New GOP Agenda Endangers Women

Project 2025, which heavily influences this new platform, is particularly concerning for women’s rights. Tara’s Seneca Project aims to educate women, especially those who lean right, about the stakes in this election. The questions she poses are chilling:

“What do you mean you want to get rid of no-fault divorce?”

“What do you mean you want to criminalize my healthcare?”

“What do you mean you want my daughters to have fewer rights than I did?”

These aren’t hypothetical scenarios. The platform and its associated projects suggest a rollback of the fundamental rights many women take for granted. There are indications of attempts to

  • restrict voting rights for women,
  • limit access to birth control, and even
  • promote archaic views on women’s roles and their value in society.

As Tara puts it, “They think women are stupid and past their prime if they’re not in their prime fertile years.”

The Handmaid’s Tale, but Real: A Grim Warning from Tara Setmayer

Tara Setmayer says “The gravity of the situation cannot be overstated”. She doesn’t mince words when she says, “This is real. This is the enemy. This is what we’re fighting against.” She draws parallels to the dystopian world of “The Handmaid’s Tale,” warning that if Project 2025 succeeds and Trump wins in November, we could be facing a similar reality.

“This isn’t just about partisan politics. It’s about the very fabric of our democracy and the rights we’ve fought hard to secure. The choice in November”, as Tara sees it, “is binary: preserve our democratic freedoms or slide towards authoritarianism”.

Defend or Diminish: Women’s Rights at a Crossroads

For women voters, the message is clear: pay attention. The threats to your rights and freedoms are real and explicitly stated by those promoting these agendas. It’s crucial to look beyond party loyalties and carefully consider what’s at stake.

As America approaches the 2024 election, women have a pivotal role to play. They need to educate themselves about these proposals, engage in discussions with friends and family, and make their voices heard at the ballot box. As Setmayer says “The future of women’s rights, their daughters’ rights, and the very nature of American democracy hang in the balance”.

Remember, this isn’t just about one election or one administration. It’s about safeguarding the hard fought for progress America has made and ensuring a future where women’s rights are protected, and expanded, not diminished. Just as America celebrates its freedoms, it also needs to commit to defending them vigorously in the face of these unprecedented challenges.
